Own a Galaxy S7? This report proves why it's time to upgrade to the Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has already received numerous five-star reviews and is classed by many as the best phone of 2017.

Express.co.uk recently called the S8 the best smartphone Samsung has ever built and the best you can buy right now.

And with record sales figures it appears Samsung certainly has a hit on its hands.

Now a new report from one of America’s biggest testing websites has confirmed that the S8 is currently the best smartphone on the market.

Consumer Reports was founded in 1936 and prides itself on being dedicated to unbiased product testing, consumer-oriented research and public education.

The website has now placed the S8 as its No.1 rated phone, replacing last year’s Galaxy S7 on the top spot.

The firm tested every aspect of the device including battery life, camera, screen, durability and how water resistant it really is.

The S8 passed with flying colours with the tests stating the S8 has a top-quality camera that “shoulders its way to the front rank.”

The design and durability were also applauded and battery life held up well against the competition.

One area where Consumer Reports criticised the S8 was Samsung’s placement of the fingerprint scanner.

The Korean tech giant has come under a huge amount of criticism for moving this popular sensor to the rear of the device especially as it’s now so close to the camera lens.

In their review, Consumer reports said it found that the fingerprint scanner on the back is awkwardly placed.

You can use the scanner for unlocking the phone, and that works well.

But it’s right next to the rear camera, and they found themselves repeatedly poking around to locate it—and smudging the camera lens in the process.

However, even with this fault Consumers Reports have given the S8 top marks.

On their website they state: “The phones occupying the loftiest spots in the Consumer Reports smartphone ratings all excel at nearly everything, but there’s always one top dog, and at the moment it’s the Samsung Galaxy S8+, followed closely by its slightly smaller sibling, the Galaxy S8.”

And with the S8 just receiving this huge price cut, it could be time for many S7 owners to consider the upgrade.
